Sai Baba Saved My Father & Family – Anonymous Sai Devotee

Lord Sai Baba plans ahead of us and He is always present in some form or the other to take care of His devotees. Today’s experience says so.

Anonymous Devotee from USA says: Hello Hetal Ji, Thank you for providing a platform for Sai devotees to share and read other people’s experiences. Please don’t disclose my name or my e-mail ID. I usually read the experiences on this site everyday as it gives me hope that Baba will not abandon His devotees if they hold tightly onto Him. If my faith flutters, this site helps me to get my peace of mind and continue. This experience happened last year and whenever I ask Baba on questions and answers site, I am always getting an answer to post it without hesitation; therefore, I am posting it now. I would say it is more of an experience of my mom and I am writing it on behalf of her.

The experience occurred last year around February, 2011. My father is a diabetic and he found that he also got hypertension starting in the middle of 2010. He didn’t want to start taking allopathic medication and wanted to try some Ayurvedic medication, exercise and yoga to lower his blood pressure. His hypertension was the same and I always tried to tell him to start taking the medication, but there was some fear in him. In February, he had to go to China for some office trip. When he got there, he suddenly stopped calling us. Even if my mom called his office cell, he just used to talk very briefly and put the phone down. At first, my mom got upset that he is ignoring her. Later, she called him again and my father finally told us that he got a sudden and terrible headache the moment he landed in China and he is just sitting in the hotel waiting for someone from his office to take him to USA as the pain is too much. My mom understood something was wrong and called our family friend, who is a doctor. When my mom explained to her about his symptoms, she advised us to ask my dad to take a CAT scan immediately.

My mom called him on Wednesday morning and told him to take a CAT scan. A day passed and we still didn’t get any call from him. My mom was really tensed and she took me to the Baba temple and prayed to Baba asking Him let nothing happen to my dad. It was late in the Thursday night, when I got a call from my dad’s office representative saying that my dad suffered a brain hemorrhage and they can’t say anything about his condition for now. It was like a bombshell to us. Here we are in USA and there are no relatives for us to console us while my dad is all the way in China in such a bad state. If anything happened to him, our family will be destroyed because I was still in college and my sister was in high school. My dad is the sole breadwinner. We got hold of my dad’s manager and asked him to book tickets for my mom and me. The reason is that my mom can’t handle this by herself, and she also can’t properly speak English. I was in the middle of college with finals approaching, but I couldn’t leave her alone. We left my sister at my mom’s friend’s house and started our journey. Throughout the whole time, my mom was constantly doing Baba parayan. Finally, we reached Hong Kong in a very tense state and headed straight to the hospital to see my dad. When we saw him, he was fully conscious and was walking. I couldn’t believe that such a sick person became completely normal. However, he had to stay in Hong Kong because the doctors advised him not to fly for two weeks. The ordeal didn’t end here. After this incident, my dad complained that his left eye is completely not working and is blurry. After the tests, the doctor said that this might be the effect of hemorrhage because it occurred in the right occipital lobe. The sight can come back and sometimes it doesn’t come back. He told that it is best that my dad just adjust to it. This was a new tension for us because if one eye didn’t work, it would compromise everything from driving to his work. All my mom could do was pray. During this time, my grandma’s friend’s son was in Puttaparthi and Sathya Sai Baba came up to him and gave him a vibuthi packet. Instead of keeping the packet with him, he surprisingly gave it to his mom. When my grandmother told this incident to her friend, she immediately realized that Sathya Sai Baba must have given the packet for my dad and gave it to my grandma. My mom called my uncle to bring my grandparents from India to Hong Kong, because I had to leave for finals and she can’t stay in Hong Kong by herself. See the miracle here, because they are in Hong Kong and my grandparents are Indian citizens, they can stay in Hong Kong for two weeks without visa, exactly the time my dad needs to recuperate. My grandma brought the vibuthi packet with her. My mom was very happy because Baba answered her prayers. Exactly after three days of giving that vibuthi mixed with water and applying the vibuthi on his eye, my dad got his sight back in his left eye. Meanwhile, my mom was also able to meet an Indian couple who were in the hospital. It was really helpful to meet them because they showed us food shops where we can buy fruits, vegetables and also Indian food. Coincidentally, they were Sathya Sai Baba devotees and invited my grandparents and my mom to come to Bhajan that takes place in some center. My mom was in a dilemma because she didn’t believe in Sathya Sai as much as she does in Shirdi Baba, but all this was too much of a coincidence for her to ignore. All she had was the address in Chinese that those couple gave us before leaving the hospital. She lost their number. So she proposed to Baba that if my dad is going to recover fully, she should be able to reach that center at least in the time of Aarti. She got exactly 50 HK dollars with her. She took my grandpa with her while my grandma was with my dad (I had already left to USA). She took the cab and gave him the address. He said he doesn’t know the exact location of this place, but he can drop her off at the closest place. When the driver dropped her off, the meter came to exactly 49.99 HK dollars. Now, here she was in some random place in a very different country and does not where to go. My mom was really cursing herself for what she has gotten into. While this was happening, an Indian lady came up to them and asked them where they want to go. My mom, with whatever English she could manage, told her that she wanted to go to Sathya Sai center. She took my mom’s hand and walked about three blocks. They came to a building and got into the elevator. Just before my mom was about to step off, the lady mentioned, “Naughty girl, you wanted to come one time and didn’t want to come at another time. That’s why I didn’t come right away to help you. Everything will be fine”. Right after this, the Aarti started. When my mom and my grandpa looked back, there was no trace of that lady. You can imagine how my must’ve felt. My mom met the same Indian couple and they dropped her back to the hospital. My dad did get back to shape and he flew with my mom, and my grandparents also came to USA along with my parents. When I think back about this incident, Baba made sure everything went as smoothly as possible. My dad’s hemorrhage occurred in his occipital lobe. If the same thing happened somewhere else in the brain like the temporal lobe, it could’ve been much more devastating that could’ve resulted in paralysis or even memory loss. Second, my dad was luckily in Hong Kong. If he was in mainland China like Beijing, we couldn’t have visited him because we would’ve had to go through the whole visa process. Just before this, my grandparents got their American visitor visa. Therefore, they were able to visit my parents in Hong Kong and came straight to USA with my parents to support them. I also did well on my finals and got good grades for that quarter (I had to do my part of studying). Finally, if the same thing happened in USA, we would’ve had to pay a huge amount of money (our personal medical insurance doesn’t cover everything). Because my dad was on an official business trip, his office paid for everything including our flight tickets. After this incident, my mom got a dream that my father and she went to take the Darshan of Lord Dattatreya and He offered a black flower to him. He accepted the flower from them and gave them blessings. I am grateful that Sai Baba, through whatever forms it maybe, saved my father and my family. I would also like to say that everybody should remember that health is really the true wealth. As it says in Satcharitra, while you should not be obsessed with your body, you should also take care of it so you can fulfill and achieve the goal of human life. I have a more interesting experience I will share in another post as this experience is enough for one post.
