Anonymous Devotee from India says: I am an Assistant Professor at Chennai. Though I came across Shirdi Sai Baba’s Name even during childhood, it was only during my final year UG did I actually become His devotee. He overtook my life in an amazing way and now I know – “Whatever happens in my life, whether it is desirable or not to me, Sai is the string puller and is definitely leading me to something good”. My parents had started worshipping Sai somewhere in the latter part of 2008. Though I used to accompany them to the weekly Sai Temple visit whenever I came home from hostel, I was not a staunch devotee. When I just finished my UG, I had to take a decision regarding my career – I had been placed in a small concern in Bangalore. I wanted to go ahead with that whereas my Father was not very convinced and wanted me to appear for government examinations staying at home. Those days, fiery altercations between me and dad were daily affairs. I had completely lost my peace of mind. It was during that crucial period, one morning, in a semi-conscious state, I started uttering “Sai Baba Saranam” without my knowledge. I got up suddenly and was surprised. I started chanting the same in my mind almost always; understanding that Sai was pulling this sparrow to Him.

Though I did not have a serious idea of doing PG, I wrote the TANCET examination which was the state level entrance examination for PG courses in engineering and with Baba’s grace, got a good score. But I was confused as to which college to opt for. On the day of counselling, I was in the hall waiting for my turn. When there were a couple of other students waiting before me, the person who was making candidates sit in the counselling hall made me sit next to a lady who was waiting for her turn. We started striking a conversation and she told that she is a teacher in an engineering college. I asked her to suggest which college to opt for; she said that I can go for a course which was offered by CEG, Anna University, Chennai. I had seen the name of this course in the counselling manual but was not sure whether to select it or not as it had a rare specialization. Sai dispelled my doubts through that lady. Let her be blessed by Sai Baba! Needless to say, I went ahead selecting that course in that great University which made me earn a monthly stipend as well. I joined the University, far away from home and stayed in a private hostel in Adyar, Chennai.

In the first semester, I was affected with Malaria and came home for a fortnight. So, I shifted to another hostel managed by a congregation of Christian sisters in Santhome, Chennai. By doing this, I came very close to the famous temple of Sai Baba at Mylapore. I made visiting Mylapore temple a weekly affair. I would start in the evening by walk and reach the temple. All my worries and concerns would melt in the divine presence of Baba. The mere sight and the sacred touch of Sai (In Mylapore temple, the devotees are free to garland, offer shawls and touch Baba themselves) would make my heart feel light as a feather. Though I did not have very close friends either at college or at hostel, the feeling that “Sai Baba is with me” would light up my heart. I finished my M.E and got placed in one of the biggest software companies due to Sai’s blessings. I started attending training with that company along with ten other wonderful girls from the same college with whom I had no rapport before. The training batch I was in was also a very energetic and fun loving one who made me feel at home.

After the training, I went through a brief bench period and then started working in a project. The timing was almost like 10:00a.m to 10:00p.m and there was no proper knowledge transfer. But the Team Lead would insist me on finishing the work. I got so stressed that I wanted to quit the job as soon as possible. Meanwhile, my parents had started seeing alliances for my marriage and Dad did not want me to quit work. By Sai’s grace I got released from the project and was reporting to the RMG (Resource Management Group) guys who were belittling me very much. Those days, I would go, report by 12:00p.m to 1:00p.m, have lunch and start to my sole refuge – the Temple of Sai Baba at Mylapore. The journey would require me to travel for 2-3 hours switching 2-4 buses depending on the timing. On seeing Sai Baba’s loving face, all my concerns would be pacified. I would spend a couple of hours in the Temple and would start back to the hostel with Prasadam. After dinner, I would write “Sai Baba Saranam” in Tamil for a full page and then go to bed. While this was going on, one night, I decided to start 9 weeks Sai Vrat and went to bed.

Next morning I got up with a decision which was so clear and well defined like a flowchart. It was like – “Ok, you are stressed with your present job. Quit It. Apply for teaching jobs in engineering colleges. If you get through-well and good. If you don’t, apply for small software concerns in Chennai and native. You will get through. Even if you don’t, don’t be worried. God has something better in store for you”. Then I made a call to mom announcing my decision. All these days I was asking permission; whereas now, Sai gave me the courage to decide. I did as I said and started applying for engineering college jobs in and around Chennai. During those days, I came across another devotee in the temple who insisted that I walk around the Dhuni 9 times. Even now, I do it each time I go to the temple as it is Sai’s order. I purchased the Tamil copy of Sai Satcharitra one evening and the shop keeper blessed me and gave me a small Picture of Sai which I treasure till now. It was on a Saturday, I got a call from an engineering college asking me to attend interview on Sunday. A couple of hours later, mom called me to inform that the parents of a prospective groom (who was in UK then), wanted to meet me on the very same Sunday at Mylapore Sai Baba Temple. A couple of weeks before only my parents had come back from the pilgrimage to Shirdi. I said ok, let me attend interview and then meet these people. I attended the interview, met my parents and brother at railway station, had lunch and started to Mylapore through local train.

The groom’s parents and siblings met us at the temple and I started back to the hostel with the news that I was selected in the interview. But I put down the offer. Then the groom had come to India to meet me and we met at my native one fine evening. After the meeting I started to Chennai to vacate my hostel room. My friend called me and informed me of the interview which was to take place at her college. I attended the interview and was selected. I signed the offer letter and came back to my native, vacating my Chennai hostel room and paying respects to Mylapore Shirdi Sai Baba. The next day, we got a call from the groom’s side announcing that they were ok with the alliance and wanted to proceed. To our surprise, the college in which I was selected was nearby the groom’s house which we did not know before. He was starting back to UK and spoke to me. He said that the fact that I had quit an IT job had impressed him so much. This was the next surprise and I understood that Sai has made me go through all those problems at work just to quit it to marry a good person. We are now happily married and I have a better job in a better institution now. All these good things that had happened to me after so many ordeals teach me one fact. Sai is with me. He holds my hands through everything. Whatever happens in life – it may not seem desirable momentarily– happens for good only if we surrender ourselves fully to Sai Baba. No fear when Sai is here! Sai Baba Saranam! Let His blessings be to all!

  3. ai Baba's Nirnayan - Some unknow facts

    17 May 2013 by Leeladhar V V

In Chapter 42, 43 and 44, the Niryan or Passing away of Sai Baba is discussed. 1918, first month of Dakshinayan, on Vijayadashami Day in the first bright half of the moon, Baba gave away His body, in the muslim month of Moharram on the 9th day the month and it was the night of the slaughter. The clock stuck 12.30 in the afternoon, the tenth day of the lunar month was over and ekadashi was has begun Baba’s Samadhi is actually on Ekadash.Since it was dashami at sunrise Baba’s Niryan is supposed to be on Dashmi and hence is celebrated on Vijayadashmi. That Tuesday was the night of slaughter and Sai merged His soul with the Universal soul, at 2.35 pm Baba gave up His body and merged in the Universal soul. The indication of His going away was given in 1916 Shilangan Baba gave a indication of His going away (Chapter 42)

Fourteen days before His Samadhi Baba asked Mr.Vaze to read Ram Vijay to Him. After passing away in Chapter 43 Baba tells Lakshman Mama “Bapusaheb jog will not come today, For He thinks I am dead, so atleast you perfom my Puja” So Mama came and did the Arati and other puja usually done by Bapusaheb Jog. Later on Bapusaheb Jog performed the afternoon Arati. On the thirteenth day Balasaheb Bate observed the 13th Day ceremony by feeding the Brahmins. Upasani Baba along with Bapusaheb Jog performed Hom Havan at river Bhagirati and fed a lots of Brahmin. There is a separate leela of Baba at this Hom Havan we will post it some time later. Das Ganu Maharaj came along with followers and did Bhajan Kirtan. In para 43 of Chapter 44 Hemadripanth narrates there were many omens of Baba passing, but unfortunately he did not record all of them in the Sai Satcharita.

Jyotindra Tarkhad who resided in Bandra, Mumbai built a beautiful sandalwood shrine in which he placed SHRI SAI's portrait and worshipped HIM daily. One day at about 2.30pm in October, SAI's portrait just slid down a little though nothing happened to it. Jyotindra on seeing this, was afraid and treated it as a bad omen. When he left his residence to attend some important work, he met Kaka Dixit on the way who conveyed him the news that SHRI SAI attained Samadhi at Shirdi at 2.30 pm that very day. SHRI SAI had given an indication of this to Jyotindra thru this leela at Bandra.

  4. A Short Biography of Shree Swami Samarth
    *****Tol Repented*****
When Sri Swamiji had come to Solapur, Chintopant Tol took him to his house.
However, a doubt cropped up in his mind. He began to think, “Sri Swamiji takes food
anywhere he likes, so it is not proper to serve him food in the same row as ours. We
will serve him food in a separate place”. Reading Tol’s mental thought, Sri Swamiji said,
“There is a doubt in your mind. So I shall not take food here”. Tol repented for his
grave mistake, prostrated at the lotus feet of Sri Swamiji, and prayed for forgiveness.
Only then kind-hearted Sri Swamiji took food with Tol.

    *****Uncontaminated Food*****
When Sri Swamiji came to Akkalkot, initially he stayed in Cholappa’s house.
There he harassed the family members of Cholappa. Cholappa’s wife observed
untouchability, but Sri Swamiji never supported untouchability. He would accept the
unpolluted food served by Cholappa’s wife. However, sometimes he would get stark
naked and say “Now I will serve food to all of you in a holy condition”. Hearing these
words from Sri Swamiji Cholappa’s family would get ashamed

    That purusha with endless devotion,
    Who chants the thousand names,
Of He who is the lord of the Universe,
Of He who is the God of Gods,
    Of He who is limitless,
    Would get free,
From these bondage of life, cruel
He who also worships and prays,
    Daily without break,
That Purusha who does not change,
That Vishnu who does not end or begin,
That God who is the lord of all worlds,
And Him, who presides over the universe,
    Would loose without fail,
All the miseries in this life.
    Chanting the praises,
    Worshipping and singing,
    With devotion great,
    Of the lotus eyed one,
Who is partial to the Vedas,
Who is the only one, who knows the dharma,
    Who increases the fame,
Of those who live in this world,
Who is the master of the universe,
Who is the truth among all those who has life,
And who decides the life of all living,
Is the dharma that is great.
That which is the greatest light,
That which is the greatest penance,
That which is the greatest brahmam,
Is the greatest shelter that I know.
    Please hear from me,
    The thousand holy names,
    Which wash away all sins,
Of Him who is purest of the pure,
Of That which is holiest of holies,
Of Him who is God among Gods,
Of That father who livesWithout death,
Among all that lives in this world,
Of Him whom all the souls,
Were born at the start of the world,
Of Him in whom, all that lives,
Will disappear at the end of the world,
And of that the chief of all this world,
Who bears the burden of this world.

  6. Dear devotee

i am a manglik girl. Manglik meaning MANGAL is there in my horoscope as one of the strongest planet. People who are manglik are either devotees of HANUMAN JI or DURGA MAA as both are related to Mangal. Most players around the world are manglik since HANUMAN JI is the guru for games. A manglik person should always get married by matching kundlis. For other information kindly contact a good astrologer since some astrologers with half knowledge tend to scare people by saying that they are manglik. God bless you

  8. can anyone tell me about amtritavani and veena aunty?

    1. Veena ji is an ardent devotee (i would say Baba's dearest and blessed daughter)of Baba. She conducts group recitation of Sai Amritvani (Bhajan) every Thursday and our Baba blesses her with Udi in her lap. You can also see honey, jal, Udi oozing out from Baba' photos and statues. You can send your prayer request to her so that she prays Baba on your behalf provided you read one chapter fro Sai Satcharitra and Sai Amritvani on Thursday. I hope this helps. Om Sai Ram :-)
